Fenway Park to be used as mass COVID vaccination site

Soon, Massachusetts residents will be able to return to Fenway Park. Not for baseball games, but COVID vaccination shots.
On Tuesday, the Governor’s office announced the home of the Red Sox will be the second mass vaccination site in the state. Gillette Stadium was announced last week, and started giving vaccines on Monday.
Those eligible for vaccines under Phase One of the state’s vaccination plan will be able to get their shots at Fenway starting on Feb. 1. The initial goal is to administer 500 shots a day, with that number eventually increasing to 1,000. With the vaccination plan scheduled to run into the spring, it will likely overlap with the Red Sox season. However, the plan calls for the site to remain open once baseball season begins.
CIC Health, who is also in charge of the Gillette site, will run the operation at Fenway in partnership with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Those eligible for Phase One can sign up for an appointment on the CIC website.
As of January 12, the state has administered 239,174 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
