Albert Breer: Patriots must be ready to seize opportunities for elite receivers
During this morning’s Toucher & Hardy radio program, Fred Toucher asked why the Patriots are looking for an elite receiver this year. Albert Breer explained that the team wants to take advantage of Drake Maye’s rookie contract window, much like other teams have done with their young quarterbacks. Breer emphasized the importance of being prepared to grab opportunities as they come, even if the timing isn’t perfect, since there’s no guarantee a suitable player will be available later.

Fred Toucher: Why would the… Why are the Patriots in the market for an elite receiver this year?
Albert Breer: Because at some point over the next two to three years, they’re going to want to take advantage of Drake Maye being in his rookie contract window the same way, you know, like the Chiefs did when they went and got Sammy Watkins, or when Mahomes was on his rookie contract. The same way the Rams went and got Brandon Cooks when Jared Goff was on his rookie contract. The way the Bills did with Stefon Diggs when Josh Allen was on his rookie contract. The problem is you don’t know when that opportunity is going to arise, so you have to be ready, whether it’s now or a year from now, to strike when it does. When that sort of opportunity does become available, this could be one of those chances. So, I think they’d be open to it. Does it time up perfectly? Maybe not. Maybe the perfect timing for it is to bring in that sort of guy after the rookie year. But, you know, there’s no guarantee that someone like this is going to be available in the offseason of 2025.

Teams that have won consecutive championships since 2000
When each team starts a new season they all have the same goal in common….to win a championship. For most that goal doesn’t get achieved but for one team the goal does get achieved. Some teams have been built so well that they win championships in consecutive seasons. Below is a list of teams in the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), and National Hockey League (NHL), the four major sports in America, that have won championships in consecutive seasons since 2000.
But before the consecutive champs, here’s some info on the current champions in these sports….
The Kansas City Chiefs won their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history during the 2023 season with an overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. The Chiefs will appear on this list as they followed up their Super Bowl win in Super Bowl 57 with a successful title defense.
The Boston Celtics won their 18th NBA Championship in 2024. The Celtics won the NBA Finals in five games over the Dallas Mavericks to win their 18th title and break a tie with the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers for most NBA titles.
The Texas Rangers won their first World Series title in 2023. The Rangers took down the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games to claim their first fall classic victory.
The Florida Panthers won their first Stanley Cup in 2024. The Panthers rebounded from a Cup Final loss in 2023 to the Vegas Golden Knights and took down the Edmonton Oilers in seven games to win the Cup for the first time ever.
