Jim Murray: The Boston Bruins are an undisciplined and stupid team
The Boston Bruins fell to the Dallas Stars on Thursday night at TD Garden largely in part due to their inability to stay out of the penalty box. On Friday’s Felger and Mazz, Jim Murray gave his thoughts on how undisciplined the team has been so far this season.
Jim Murray: This wasn’t just about wet fart Thursdays last night and the fact that Dallas certainly has more talent than the Bruins do. They’re just undisciplined and stupid. And maybe they’re the team that people like me expected them to be last year, and they kind of overachieved and I don’t know, this is water finding its level. But last night and the way that they’ve played recently to wrap up that road trip, and Jim Montgomery pushing Brad Marchand at Utah last Saturday, then kind of a no show against the bad Nashville team that started 0-5, and then last night, 5 penalties. 5 penalties again? They’re undisciplined. They’re stupid. I think they’ve tuned on the coach. And I think Jimmy kind of said it half in jest earlier in the week, or at least after that Nashville loss, maybe Jim Montgomery doesn’t make Halloween. I think he’s right. I think that this feels like imminent. If you’re going to play that stupid and then Montgomery is, you know, talking about these mounting penalties as an attitude issue right now, what do you think that is? Like their attitude sucks. Their attitude is “we’ve tuned out the coach”. So they’re undisciplined and they’re stupid. It’s not just about a lack of talent thing. And maybe guys like Zadorov look like bad signings. It’s something else. This team, they’re just off and they’re dumb and they just stink, but they’re not this bad. There’s a funk surrounding the Bruins right now and it’s going to cost that head coach his job sooner than people think.
Mazz: They are colossally stupid. I mean really….colossally stupid. Not to get derailed on that. But they are really stupid.
Felger: They feel broken.
