EA Sports releases Patriots overall ratings for Madden 25
This week was Madden Ratings Week, when EA Sports announces the Madden ratings for each player in the upcoming game. With all the ratings now revealed, here’s how the Patriots grade out for Madden 25.
In another sign that football season is right around the corner, Madden Ratings Week wrapped up on Friday. Each year during training camp, EA Sports takes one week to roll out the overall ratings for each player in the upcoming game (in this case, Madden 25), position by position.
With ratings week now wrapped up, we have the full Madden ratings for the players on this year’s Patriots roster. Sure, some people get annoyed by Madden ratings (if that’s you why are you still here, nobody is making you read this). But for fans whose main sports media consumption is made up of hyper-local outlets (not that there’s anything wrong with that), it’s a window into how the team is viewed on a national stage. Or, if you really disagree with the ratings, something to be fired up about on social media.
Here’s a look at where each Patriots player is starting (ratings are updated weekly during the regular season) when the game releases on Aug. 16. The full database of Madden ratings – including individual skill ratings for Patriots players, can be found here.
Note: Not every player appears in the initial version of Madden, with rosters capped at 75 players. UDFAs and other late free agents are often not included at launch, with those that make the team added in a later roster update.
Quarterbacks
Drake Maye: 74
Jacoby Brissett: 69
Bailey Zappe: 64
Joe Milton: 62
It’s the rookie Drake Maye who comes in as the Patriots’ top-rated quarterback, over the veteran Jacoby Brissett. Maye is tied with Jayden Daniels as the second-best rookie quarterback, just behind Caleb Williams (76). As for the Patriots’ other rookie quarterback, Joe Milton’s throw power comes in at a 97.
Running backs
Rhamondre Stevenson: 81
Antonio Gibson: 75
JaMycal Hasty: 71
Kevin Harris: 62
Did Rhamondre Stevenson do something personal to the Madden ratings adjusters. It seems like it’s a yearly thing now that he’s the most underrated players on the team. They have him as the 25th-best running back this year, tied with Austin Ekeler, Devin Singletary, and James Cook.
Wide receivers
Kendrick Bourne: 80
JuJu Smith-Schuster: 77
Pop Douglas: 75
K.J. Osborn: 74
Ja’Lynn Polk: 71
Jalen Reagor: 71
Javon Baker: 70
Tyquan Thornton: 70
Kayshon Boutte: 66
Kawaan Baker: 62
Certainly some notable numbers here. Despite taking a significant step back last season, JuJu Smith-Schuster is still a 77 overall, which is usually the range of a low-end starter. Meanwhile Pop Douglas is rating below him despite a very promising rookie season. The Patriots rookie receivers also came in rated on the lower end. Tyquan Thornton is the fastest player on the team with a 96 speed.
Tight ends
Hunter Henry: 80
Austin Hooper: 71
Jaheim Bell: 65
Mitchell Wilcox: 59
Joe Cardona: 26
Pretty much as expected for the Patriots’ tight ends in Madden 25. Madden still doesn’t recognize long snappers as their own position, so Joe Cardona and all the other long-snappers are still unfortunately included as low-rated tight ends.
Offensive linemen
Mike Onwenu: 82
David Andrews: 77
Cole Strange: 75
Sidy Sow: 73
Chuks Okorafor: 71
Layden Robinson: 69
Caedan Wallace: 68
Nick Leverett: 68
Jake Andrews: 66
Calvin Anderson: 64
Michael Jordan: 63
Vederian Lowe: 63
Atonio Mafi: 62
Tyrone Wheatley: 60
Madden has Mike Onwenu rated at an 82, but that’s at right tackle. He’s been mainly repping at guard in camp, and it’s possible when Madden adjusts his rating will go up. The developers also flipped the Patriots’ rookie ratings compared to the draft order, with third-round pick Caedan Wallace rated just below fourth-round pick Layden Robinson.
Defensive linemen
Christian Barmore: 78
Deatrich Wise: 77
Davon Godchaux: 74
Armon Watts: 68
Trysten Hill: 67
Daniel Ekuale: 65
Jeremiah Pharms: 62
We mentioned Rhamondre Stevenson as maybe being the Patriots’ most underrated player, but both of the team’s top defensive tackles have a case there too – especially Christian Barmore. Barmore might not play this year, but if he did he’d certainly make more of an impact than a 78 overall.
Linebackers
Matthew Judon: 88
Jahlani Tavai: 84
Ja’Whaun Bentley: 82
Sione Takitaki: 77
Joshua Uche: 75
Anfernee Jennings: 72
Oshane Ximines: 72
Raekwon McMillan: 69
Joe Giles-Harris: 62
Christian Elliss: 58
Matthew Judon is the Patriots’ top-rated player in Madden 25, at an 88 overall. Jahlani Tavai also comes in as one of the Patriots’ better defensive players after a career year in 2023. However the developers weren’t as impressed with Anfernee Jennings, who is one of the more underrated players on the roster Madden-wise.
Cornerbacks
Jonathan Jones: 85
Christian Gonzalez: 80
Marcus Jones: 75
Marco Wilson: 72
Shaun Wade: 70
Marcellas Dial: 68
Alex Austin: 67
Isaiah Bolden: 64
Madden 25 isn’t all-in on Christian Gonzalez’s breakout in Year 2 just yet. 80 is a solid rating, but far from the top 10 at the position. After Tyquan Thornton the Patriots’ three next-fastest players are all cornerbacks – Isaiah Bolden (95 speed), Gonzalez, and Marcus Jones (both 93).
Safeties
Jabrill Peppers: 85
Kyle Dugger: 84
Marte Mapu: 74
Jaylinn Hawkins: 68
Joshuah Bledsoe: 65
Brenden Schooler: 62
For the second year in a row, the Patriots’ safeties come in underrated. Jabrill Peppers is tied for the 14th-best safety in the game, while Kyle Dugger is tied at 17th. Comparatively, Peppers was ranked as the fifth-best safety in the NFL last year by PFF. Meanwhile, Marte Mapu gets a decent bump after finishing last year with a 70 overall.
Special teams
P Bryce Baringer: 73
K Joey Slye: 73
K Chad Ryland: 68
If it were up to Madden 25, Joey Slye would win the kicker competition over Chad Ryland. Meanwhile Bryce Baringer’s Year 2 numbers are solid, with a 95 kick power and 75 kick accuracy.
