On Thursday's Felger & Mazz radio program, the guys react to the New England Patriots lack of spending in NFL free agency.

Patriots Haven't Been Humbled?

Parts of conversation abbreviated for clarity.

Felger: I still don't think the Patriots get it. They still think that they're the Patriots of old. You know what I mean?

Mazz: Oh, yeah. No, I know exactly what you mean.

Jim Murray: The Glory Day Patriots.

Felger: Which is easy to do and what they absolutely did for those 20 years when they had Tom Brady and were winning every year.

"Oh, yeah, let the Jets win the offseason. We win the regular season," said Jerry Thornton. Or, you know, whoever.

Just that arrogant, snotty, bitchy Patriot fan thing.

"Oh, yeah. Let them win the offseason. We'll win the real season!"

You're 4-13, and you're still saying that? You're 4-13 with just about the worst roster in the NFL. And I think with one of the bleakest outlooks in football. I think the Patriots have one of the least inspiring coaching staffs and rosters in all of football.

And you're going to still spill the, "Well, the splashes come with wins and losses." Like, the Titans are idiots? Oh my God.

Mazz: Yeah, that's a dangerous game to play with that Patriots roster.

Felger: They don't get it.

Mazz: They don't get it.

Felger: They really don't get it.

Mazz: The other thing is—

Felger: They still, and I mean, the Krafts have not been sufficiently humbled. They still think it's the Patriots of old. They do. They still think it's them. They think that they have the right ideas. They think that they have the right people in place and that Belichick, in the end, was just getting in the way of all their good decision-making.

And they still don't get it. They have not been sufficiently humbled. And I don't know what it would take if it hadn't happened already. But their comment recently reeks of that.

Mazz: Well, and the other thing, and this is obvious just quickly, if the splash doesn't matter, then what were you bidding on Calvin Ridley for? Why even try?

Felger: It's what you say after you lose the player to another team. I mean, honestly, could you have bigger loser comments?

Mazz: Exactly.
