Barth on Home Run Derby: Shame on me for chasing the nostalgia

On Monday’s Felger and Mazz Alex Barth said he was excited for the Home Run Derby. On Tuesday’s Felger and Mazz Alex Barth talked about how much he disliked the Home Run Derby.  

Alex Barth: I watched. Shame on me for chasing the nostalgia. “Care” might be strong after last night. The new format I thought maybe it would fix it. They got rid of the stupid brackets in the first round and just let the guys hit home runs. That clock they use makes makes it unwatchable. And that's not me saying I need the five hour version of Bobby Abreu and Josh Hamilton 20 years ago but there's nothing to watch. You can't see anything. As soon as the ball is off the bat another pitch is thrown. They're in this stupid split screen where you can't see anything. I miss Chris Berman. It's just the announcers yelling “ohh” for three hours.  

Felger: You miss Chris Berman?  

Matt McCarthy: What was Berman doing except yelling “back, back, back...”?  

Alex Barth: You don't know what's happening. Maybe it's maybe it's cause of the camera, but like, you can't actually track it. There's no, it all feels rushed. There's no semblance of any event. Like before you'd see them hit the home run, you get to see where it goes, and you'd see people reacting in the stands. This is just that stupid split screen with the player out of breath on his front foot because he's getting a pitch every three seconds and just non-focused camera shots of the ball somewhere. I can't tell where it is. Until they get rid of the clock it's not going to be fixed. I just hope they fix it by the time it gets back to Fenway eventually. I don't need the 10 outs. I don't need the five hour version. But shame on me for expecting some nostalgia because that clock....If you're going to rush it like that and make it that unwatchable, why do it? If it's that important to get it done and out of the way, why are we doing it to begin with?

The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are tied for the most Super Bowl victories with 6. The Patriots have a 6-5 all-time record in the Super Bowl, while the Steelers have a 6-2 all-time record. 

The New York Yankees have won an MLB record 27 World Series championships. Their last championship was won in 2009 when they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Stanley Cup was first awarded in 1893. It was donated by Lord Stanley of Preston who was the 6th Governor General of Canada.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy is awarded to the Super Bowl Champion. It was named after former NFL Head Coach Vince Lombardi. Lombardi was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers when they won Super Bowl's I and II.
