Top Red Sox prospect named Double-A Northeast League Player of the Week
Red Sox prospect Triston Casas, currently with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, has been named the Double-A Northeast League Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 5.
Casas batted .471 (8-for-17) with a league-best five home runs and 11 RBIs during the week, and also led all hitters with a 1.354 slugging percentage.
Currently the top minor league prospect in the Red Sox’ system, Casas has played 69 games for the Sea Dogs and batted .283 with 12 home runs and 48 RBIs. He also helped Team USA win a silver medal in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
Casas ranked 47th on Baseball America’s annual list of the Top-100 prospects in 2021. He currently ranks 18th on MLB.com’s own top prospects list, with an expected arrival in the major leagues in 2022.
