Patriots’ J.C. Jackson added to Pro Bowl ballot

J.C. Jackson is getting the recognition he deserves.
The third-year cornerback leads the NFL with six interceptions, and is in the midst of setting a new Patriots franchise record with at least one pick in five straight games. So it’s only appropriate that Jackson should be added to the fan balloting for the NFL’s Pro Bowl, where you can now cast your vote for him.
New England previously listed starters on the Pro Bowl ballot, which is why you can vote for Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty. But neither of those two are necessarily having Pro Bowl-caliber seasons, while Jackson has heated up in recent weeks and mostly played well with Gilmore on the shelf.

Jackson made his league-leading sixth interception on Sunday night against the Ravens, beating wideout Marquise Brown on his route to the ball. In all, Ravens pass-catchers made only one reception for 14 yards on four targets against Jackson, according to data compiled by Jeff Howe. According to Howe’s data, Jackson has allowed an opposing passer rating of 65.3 on the season.
Jackson has been one of Bill Belichick’s better finds among undrafted free agents, a market where the head coach has particularly excelled over the years. His ball skills are undeniable and now he’s stepping up in an increased role. It’s encouraging for Patriots fans to see Jackson have a chance at making the Pro Bowl in a year where he’s hawking the ball more than any other corner in the league so far.
