The Patriots are not ruling anybody out yet for this Sunday
On Friday’s injury report the New England Patriots didn’t rule out any players – including defensive tackle Christian Barmore – for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Prior to practice on Friday, New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo told reporters there’s “a chance” defensive tackle Christian Barmore could play this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Barmore had been out since the early days of training camp after being diagnosed with blood clots, and just returned to the practice field on Thursday.
“We have a meeting with the doctors after practice today, so there is a chance,” Mayo explained.
While Barmore wasn’t spotted on the field during the early portion of practice open to the media, that doesn’t seem to be due to a setback. Barmore was listed as a non-participant in Friday’s practice on the Patriots’ final injury report of the week on Friday, but also officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game rather than ruled out (full injury report below).
The team has until Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET to officially activate Barmore from the NFI list (they would need to open up a roster spot to do so). Not doing so would make him ineligible for this week, but there are still 19 days remaining on his designated window to return overall.
Barmore isn’t the only player the Patriots can return from IR this week. Cornerback Alex Austin is eligible as well, with his return clock set to expire this upcoming Wednesday.
It’s not just Barmore who got the questionable tag on Friday. The Patriots didn’t rule any players out for Sunday, with 10 players (including Barmore) listed as questionable.
Among those players are defensive linemen Deatrich Wise (foot) and Jaquelin Roy (neck). Neither practiced at all this week, which is usually a sign a player won’t play.
Also questionable are linebacker Christian Elliss (linebacker) and safety Kyle Dugger (ankle). Both missed last week’s game, and were limited all week.
For the Rams, three players were ruled out including starting right tackle Rob Haverstein (ankle). Backup right tackle Joe Noteboom (ankle) is also doubtful after not practicing all week. That could leave LA with third stringer Warren McClendon Jr. in a starting role. Pass rusher Byron Young (knee) is questionable.
