Was the Bruins 5-2 loss to the Rangers and advantage to Jeremy Swayman?
The Boston Bruins fell to the New York Rangers 5-2 in a preseason game on Thursday night and goaltender Brandon Bussi allowed 4 goals on the first 20 shots that he faced. On Friday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger said that was a big advantage for Jeremy Swayman, who is still awaiting a new contract from the team.
Felger: Bruins fans get ready for this. And what I mean by this is not necessarily getting your doors blown off or Nikita Zadorov sucking or Brandon Bussi not being able to stop anything, although maybe. By this I mean, well we’re going to be tracking this as Jeremy Swayman holds out. How are the Bruins doing? How does it look? Are they keeping the puck out of the net? Bussi last night allowed four goals on his first twenty shots, which sounds horrible. If you go back and watch it, I don’t know how many were really, there weren’t any really bad ones. I mean, the first one was a five on three where he didn’t have much of a chance. The second one was a tip in front. The third one was that break away you just heard. And then the fourth I think was batted out ofmidairr in front of the net. So like when you actually go watch them, none of them you would say “that was a brutal play by him”. But 4 goals on 20 shots? Four goals on 20 shots? Advantage Swayman. And I think we’re going to be doing that all season long. Or as long as Jeremy Swayman is out.
