Time to pump the brakes on the Patriots
Felger, Mazz, and Murray think that it is time to pump the brakes on the New England Patriots after their week 1 upset over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Felger: This is why we’re here to pump the brakes and slow your roll. A core belief of mine is that if you’re a running team and your best player is a running back….you suck. And I stand by it. So you still suck and you’re trying to climb out of the suck chamber and you cannot win at a high level running the ball. You can’t. There was a time you could get away with it and what I mean by that is if that’s your bread and butter, if you start with the run, there’s certainly some of these teams, some of the Mahomes Chiefs teams ran the ball well, you ran the ball well at times, but it was always sort of the complement to Brady. The complement to Mahomes. The complement to the passing game. If you’re just going to line up and establish the run and your best players are running back, you suck. You’re not going to go very far. And oh, by the way, they know it. The Patriots know it.
Felger: Do you know how I know they know it? Give me one bit of evidence that would tell you they know that the formula that I just laid out, running and defense and that thing is not the path…
Mazz: They drafted Drake Maye.
Felger: Thank you. So like, we don’t even need to argue about this because the team’s not going to argue about it with me. They know it. Everyone knows it.
