The Krafts Had Zero Editorial Control Over Patriots Documentary
On Friday’s edition of Toucher & Hardy, Matthew Hamachek who is the director of the new Patriots documentary titled “Dynasty”, joined the show and explained how Robert and Jonathan Kraft had zero editorial control over the editing of the documentary.
“Zero. None. Nothing, Really…”
Hardy: Matthew Hamachek is the director of “Dynasty”. Episodes seven and eight, I believe, dropped at midnight. So, Matthew, if there is a scene or an episode that people come away from and say that was really biased one way or the other, if you want to assign blame to it or people want to assign blame to it, what is an easy answer for them? Is it, as some people have said, the involvement of of the Krafts?
Matthew Hamachek: The great conspiracy, the great conspiracy. I love it. Okay. Let’s let’s talk about it.
Hardy: Well, I’m going to give you a couple of options here. Is it that? Is it an editor? I don’t know if you were directly responsible for the editing. I know not every director is involved in the editing process. They want to say, “no, I’ve done my part. Now you tell the story.” Or is it or is it you?
Matthew Hamachek: Well, every everything should always be blamed. Any negative things should always be blamed on me. That’s my philosophy. Everything that everybody loves should be credited to everybody else. I don’t mind any of it. The answer is this. No, there’s no great conspiracy where the Krafts are behind the scenes. They had no editorial control over this thing whatsoever. Zero. None. Nothing, really.
Michael Holley: They didn’t say…
Matthew Hamachek: None. They saw the final product when it was finished. I still haven’t even had the chance to talk and listen to them, and hear what their opinions are, because, believe it or not, they have better things in their lives to do than to let documentary filmmakers know how they feel about things. So you know, I set out to make this story. I’m not a fan of this team, and it doesn’t mean I hate the team, but I was much more interested in this intellectual question of what does it take to get there, than I was about being part of these turf wars. Everybody’s trying to figure out, you know, who’s on who’s side and who’s doing what, and all these kind of things. It’s just it’s not something that concerns me. I don’t have a dog in this fight. And, I was just trying to tell an interesting story, and I really sit back and listen to a lot of these people talk and, you know, hear what they have to say.
