“The Roast of Tom Brady Review”: It Was Too Long
On Monday’s edition of Toucher and Hardy, the guys reacted to the “Roast of Tom Brady” and gave their reviews of the comedy special.
It Was Supposed to be 2.5 Hours Long….
Fred Toucher: All right. So last night, Netflix aired live the Tom Brady roast.
Hardy: Yep.
Fred Toucher: A couple things off the top. I was given, bad information and we’ll find out what that was. Also, it was too long.
Hardy: It was way too long. It’s supposed to be 2.5 hours. It went closer to three. My feeling was, and your feeling was, Fred, that a live roast where you’re going to have all these comedians and a lot of them are, you know, are going to be repeating the same jokes without the benefit of editing and really taking care of some of these people and doing them a service by cutting out their stuff that didn’t land and didn’t work. That as a whole, the show was going to suck as a result of it. In the first 20 seconds the way they decided to open this thing with a pre produced opening, boy oh boy, did it look like this thing was going to suck.
“Bill Belichick”: This is a big night. The fans want you, everyone wants you, but it’s not your night. Sorry, Drew. Brady?
“Tom Brady”: Yeah Coach?
“Bill Belichick”: You’re in. Let’s go, let’s go.
“Drew Bledsoe”: You kidding me again?
Hardy: Oh I saw that opening with Belichick, Brady, and Bledsoe, and I thought this is going to be so hokey corny bad.
Fred Toucher: Comedians wrote that skit by the way. It wasn’t like Bledsoe, Belichick, and Brady got into a room and wrote.
Speaker 1: Where else are they supposed to go with those three? I mean, what what could they have possibly written that would’ve been funny.
Fred Toucher: You’re not a comedian. What? What possibly could they have written? Give me 24 hours and I could come up with literally 100 concepts better than that, John. First of all, there was no law Bledsoe had to be in it. There was no law that Belichick had to be in it. The only person that had to be in it was Brady. What could they have done with those three then? Don’t put those three in it.
