McKone: I Think Linus Ullmark is Lying About His No Trade List
On Wednesday’s edition of Zolak and Bertrand, Tim McKone was skeptical when it comes to former Bruin Linus Ullmark and his comments about the Senators never being on his no-trade list.
“What Are You Going to Say?….“
McKone: Their new goalie is a liar.
Bertrand: You think he’s lying about the no trade?
McKone: 100%. Yeah. Which, I mean, I don’t blame him for, what are you going to say? About to start an extension and be like ,”Oh, yeah. I wanted nothing to do with this franchise.”
Bertrand: Well, no, but if he if the no trade was intact and he waived it, doesn’t that signal like, oh, I wanted to be here. I didn’t have them my list. But when I heard it was an opportunity like I’m all about it.
McKone: Right. We’re talking about the last deadline, blocking what would have been a deal with the senators and being like, “I want no part of this franchise originally.”
Zolak: I’ll think about it. You won a Vezina, played at a high level, you got a big contract here, and you want to be the goalie here, and you’re still not 100% totally sold on Jeremy Swayman. But Swayman played his way into that. So I mean at that time, McKone, I agree with you there. Like I’m waiving everything, I want to be here. I love it here. I want to be here. Now you come to grips with reality of – I’m not going to be here. So it’s in my best interests to wave this and say, “yeah, I’ll play ball with you. “
Bertrand: I will give you that though. It looks better if he never had it on the list, and he says it was never needed to be waived. That’s fair. Wouldn’t it be funny if Ottawa was one of the two teams that came off the list from 16 to 14? Yeah, and he’s able to be like,” No, no, I didn’t need a waive anything”, thinking I did this three months ago.
