Heading into this season a lot of Red Sox fans including myself were very skeptical of the team and their offseason approach. Many fans feel that Red Sox ownership has not done their part in putting together a compotent MLB roster nevermind one that comes with the payroll of the Boston Red Sox. I think the Sox put themselves behind the eight ball this offseason and had fans upset and angry at the team before the season even started.

We had countless calls into the night show early in the season about fans not wanting to watch the team because of ownership's lack of involvement. The expectations of being the Red Sox are high and fans expect ownership to be as invested as they are on a nightly basis, but that hasn't seem to be the case for John Henry and Sox ownership lately. For me like a lot of fans I was turned off from the Sox early this year expecting another lackluster season with the team trading away pieces at the deadline again and never really sniffing serious contention.

However in the last few weeks the Sox have been playing some great and exciting baseball. As a fan I understand being upset with ownership, the teams last few offseasons and trade deadlines but for the actual team on the field they are earning fans attention on a nightly basis. The Sox have won 10 of their last 12 and they're doing it in different ways. Early in the season it was all about the Sox pitching staff but now they've shown their speed on the base paths and timely hitting can be a focal point of the team as well.

The two biggest stories so far for me this Sox season has been the unbelievable pitching of Tanner Houck and Jarren Duran's ascension to all-star level outfielder. Houck has been the Sox ace this season putting up numbers that rival some of Pedro's best seasons. While Jarren Duran, who had his fair share of critics in Boston has been the break out star for the Sox this season with spectacular game winning catches to go along with wreaking havoc on the basepaths with his game changing speed.

So if you were like me and a lot of other Red Sox fans skeptical and turned off heading into the season I get it but the team on the field is putting out a product worth watching. With the Celtics season over now is a great time to invest in the Sox because while ownership may not have earned our attention the team on the field certainly has.
