Zolak & Bertrand: What is Jimmy Garoppolo’s market?
On Friday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the crew debated what the market for Jimmy Garoppolo is going to look like this offseason.
I think there’s a Jimmy Garoppolo market…
Scott Zolak: He’s going to be available. He’s in the mix of the veterans that you know aren’t going to cost you a ton. But guy is looking to come in and sort of jump start things, understanding what they would be if you would draft a guy number three overall. That you’d be sort of a placeholder, but then he’s right back in square one.
Marc Bertrand: Well, you can’t start him the first two weeks, so that would leave you with a gap of two weeks before Jimmy G could start.
Scott Zolak: So start Zappe.
Marc Bertrand: Mac Jones?
Scott Zolak: Would you keep Zappe or Mac Jones?
Marc Bertrand: For two games? It’d be easier to just plug in Zappe then it would be Mac Jones.
…
T-Bone: If you’re going to bring in Jimmy G and you’re going to pair him with a rookie quarterback that matches his skill set pretty close. Who are you drafting?
Everyone: Drake Maye.
Scott Zolak: Who will be there at three. (Jayden) Daniels has already leaped over him, and we’re not even near the draft yet. Wait until more and more people get on his train and start watching the film and working him out, and you know, he just blows you away, in the individual workout.
R.J.: What do you think Garoppolo’s market is at this point? When he’s healthy, he’s still a decent quarterback.
Scott Zolak: If I’m in Atlanta and Minnesota, I am interested.
Marc Bertrand: If I’m Chicago, I’m interested.
Scott Zolak: I think there’s a market for him.
Marc Bertrand: I think there is a market because there are plenty of teams that could use them. Any of the teams that are about to draft a rookie could use them.
Scott Zolak: He’s not a schlep.
Marc Bertrand: And there are teams that just have bad quarterbacks on their roster. Look at the Carolina Panthers, their quarterback situation sucks.
