Marc Bertrand: Jaylen Brown not being on Team USA is going to be a problem
On Thursday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Marc “Beetle” Bertrand explained why he thinks Jaylen Brown not being on Team USA is going to be a problem.
Jayson Tatum is in a bad spot…
Marc Bertrand:
It’s going to be an issue.
…
Scott Zolak:
They’re Batman (Jayson Tatum) and Robin (Jaylen Brown). And Batman didn’t call Robin?
Marc Bertrand:
Tatum is in a really bad spot with this. He’s the best player on his team and if he tells Jaylen Brown this is crazy, you should have made it, well that’s also saying Derrick White should not have made it. That’s why I think it’s a bad situation and it’s going to be a problem and you know what else is kind of crappy, Jaylen Brown is right in being frustrated and being pissed off that he didn’t make it. He did get snubbed here on this team. But by expressing that yesterday with the cryptic tweet, that is pushing back against the selection of Derrick White, another one of his teammates. So what he’s saying is, I should be there and not you. I should have been the guy, not you.
Scott Zolak:
I understand that. But I don’t think anybody would have a problem arguing that Brown should have made it over Derrick White. Like, really? That’s probably not the comparison because it’s probably a role player they were looking for, but I don’t think it would hurt Tatum to say, we won a championship together and I couldn’t have won one without him and he couldn’t have won one without me. I wish he was here. Why couldn’t he say I wish he was here… like he even deferred to say there’s a lot of guys that should be here.
Marc Bertrand:
Because by saying that it means Derrick White shouldn’t be here. Don’t you get that? That’s not being a good teammate to start the Olympics and Jayson Tatum is a good teammate. He’s not going to do that to Derrick White. That would be rude.
