A shocker in Seattle: Pete Carroll is expected to be out as the Seahawks head coach, per sources. He still could remain in the organization, but not as the head coach. pic.twitter.com/fh4Jo8oMlk

On Wednesday’s Felger & Mazz program, the guys react to the news of Pete Carroll being removed as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks…
Reaction to Pete Carroll News…
Parts of conversation abbreviatedĀ for clarity.
Mazz:Ā Wow!Ā
Jim Murray:Ā Wow! I didn’t see this coming.Ā
Mazz:Ā Wow! Freaking dominoes falling everywhere, and big ones. Wow. I didn’t see that coming, did you?Ā
Felger:Ā No.Ā
Jim Murray:Ā That has got to be more his choice than anything else.Ā
Mazz:Ā What was their record, 9-8?Ā
Felger:Ā Getting fired was Vrabel’s choice. Being fired is Belichick’s choice.Ā
Jim Murray:Ā The report said [Carroll] can remain in the organization but not as the head coach.Ā
Mazz:Ā Well, that’s too bad. I was kind of hoping that the Patriots could go from Parcells to Pete to Bill. Then back to Pete. *Maniacal laughter*. That would be awesome! Dominos are falling all over the place.Ā
Felger:Ā It’s a fun story. I don’t see any impact here on the Patriots.Ā
Mazz:Ā Yeah, no way.Ā
Jim Murray:Ā No, no, no, no.Ā
Felger:Ā I really don’t. I mean, he’s not a candidate to be back here, but I don’t even see him being a domino that relates to the Patriots. Unless Seattle says, “We really want Vrabel.”Ā
Mazz:Ā But it is a job. So there is a potential element there of, well, that’s a firing that no one saw coming. So there might be candidates on the market that go, “Oh, there’s an opening in Seattle.”Ā
Felger:Ā Here’s how it relates to the Patriots. If you were in on Vrabel or if you were in on Harbaugh. If you’re in on the big fish, Seattle is probably a big-fish job, I would think. It’s the Paul Allen money. I don’t know if it’s a big job or not. But if it is, you know, there’s more competition.Ā
And maybe Seattle’s a team that says, “We like Pete. We’ve had a good run with Pete, but maybe we can go and get Vrabel.”Ā
Or maybe they’ve already backchannel Vrabel or Harbaugh. And if you were in the running for one of those guys, then you’re out. Other than that line of thinking, I think it’s a good news pop. I don’t think it relates to this Belichick situation.Ā
