MLB Odds for Big Ticket Free Agents
Written by Joseph Medeiros
The Dodgers capped the MLB season with a 7-6 comeback win over the New York Yankees in a game that many will remember for the numerous late errors that cost them the game.
The MLB free agency has begun and besides Kyle Hendricks going to the Angels on a one-year, 2.5-million-dollar deal there is nothing of note. BetOnline.ag has created odds for the possible destinations of some of baseball’s biggest names.
Alex Bregman
Alex Bregman is coming off a massive season at third base for the Astros, a season that ended with him receiving his first Golden Glove. The 30-year-old has a 39.6 rWAR since his 2016 debut as well as his total offense being 32% better than the league average.
The issue arises with Bregman recently having undergone elbow surgery to remove bone chips which may leave teams weary of signing him. However, he has stated he would be willing to move to second base for any team that may sign him.

Blake Snell
The Seattle native is entering his 9th year in the league and looking for his 4th new team after opting out of his contract. Snell is 31 years old, and the former Cy Young winner did not start his 2024 campaign well, due to missing spring training Snell had an ERA over 10.00 at one point.
However, Snell would show why he was elite as he only allowed 14 earned runs across 85 innings. It is clear that Snell is looking for a big contract that teams will be willing to give him given his past performances.

Corbin Burnes
When speaking about the massive players in free agency, Corbin Burnes must be either 1 or 2 on the list. Burnes is a four-time all-star and a former Cy Young winner, as well as leading the NL in strikeouts in 2022.
Burnes boasted a 2.92 ERA this season, which may not be his career best (2.11), but still ranks among the best in the league. His 15 wins rank 7th in the league among pitchers, meaning many teams will be in the hunt for a big-name pitcher.

Pete Alonso
The former Mets first basemen made himself a fan favorite ever since he signed in 2019. Alonso has an impressive resume that has set the rookie home run record (53) and NL Rookie of the Year at the top of it.
Pete Alonso had 34 home runs, 88 RBIs, and 123 OPS+ in his 2024 season, which has attracted many teams. Even after all these accolades, the Mets are believed to be pursuing Juan Soto which could change up Alonso’s market.

Willy Adames
Adames is currently the best-remaining shortstop on the market, but his 2024 campaign was not as good as some may have projected. His 10 fielding errors were 3 more than his number the year before.
Adames’ preference is to remain at shortstop, but he would be willing to move positions if given the right contract. Depending on how teams view his most recent season could be big in determining where he lands.
