Felger & Mazz: Instant Reaction to Drake Maye being named starter
Felger, Mazz, Joe Murray, and Greg Bedard react to the breaking news of Drake Maye being named the New England Patriots week 6 starter.
Greg Bedard: Well on film it’s warranted. I thought Jacoby Brissett was my lowest rated player for the Patriots the past two weeks. After last week I said if it happens again, then you have to seriously consider starting Drake Maye. Considering the opponent that it’s the Houston Texans and some of the other things that are wrong with the team right now, I thought this was maybe a week early, but we’ll see.
Mazz: Colossal mistake. Colossal. I can’t emphasize this enough. It was my initial reaction as soon as I heard it. Like, oh, my God. I can’t believe they’re doing this. Colossal, colossal mistake. Huge mistake because they’re rushing it, they’re rushing it. This is not. There’s no way this could. No way it could have been the plan again.
Greg Bedard: This couldn’t have been the plan.
Joe Murray: Anyone but Jacoby Brissett, to be honest. But they’re rushing this. They had no plan. I agree with everything you guys say. This is a bad week. I mean, the offensive line against this pass rush. I’ll just start there.
Felger: Yeah, I wouldn’t do it. You’re not ready. I have no idea if he’s ready or not.
