Zolak & Bertrand: Tom Brady setting the stage to be Patriots QB again?
On Friday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the crew discussed whether Tom Brady is setting the stage to be the Patriots QB again after his interview with Vic Blends.
Why would he says the Patriots?
Marc Bertrand: (Tom) Brady is saying there’s a chance his NFL career is not done, and I don’t think he would say it like this if he were done. If he knew we were truly done, which he could easily say no man, I had a great career, but I’m retired now and I’m moving on to all the things I’ve got going on. I’m excited about being a part owner of the Raiders and the playing days are done for me. Instead, he tells you I’ll always be ready to go. Like MJ.
Phil Perry: How about Vic Blends saying what if there’s a contending team that loses their quarterback late. You know the 49ers AND the Patriots. Offense is great? That doesn’t really satisfy the qualifications that Vic had laid out there.
Marc Bertrand: Heading to the playoffs? This team?
Phil Perry: But it just tells you his imagination is already ahead of those conversations.
Ryan Johnston: This has been in his head since Belichick got canned, right? As the moment Belichick left he’s like, you think Patriots would have me back for one more year so I can kind of finish things the way they should be finished with me in a Patriots uniform. Without having to deal with that a-hole.
Marc Bertrand: Right. Tom Brady, when he was in a better frame of mind in New England, if he was going to draw it up, how his career would end, it would be finishing in New England, making the money he felt he deserved and having a good team until the end. That’s how he would have drawn it up if you had asked him 7 or 8 years ago.
Ryan Johnston: Can you imagine a former teammate of his is the head coach, he’d be perfectly comfortable with that.
Marc Bertrand: Should have hired (Mike) Vrabel. If Vrabel were the head coach right now and this happened on this podcast, this would be a full blown frenzy like it was on Arbella Early Edition last night. Top of the broadcast. Brady frenzy. Brady’s coming back. Zo screaming that’s your quarterback. You know all that.
Phil Perry: Him bringing up the Patriots out of nowhere tells you despite their circumstances, he’s interested.
Ryan Johnston: He’s he’s about to become part-owner of the Raiders and he put them second on that list. Patriots first or the Raiders.
Marc Bertrand: Why would he even blurt out any team names? And he goes right to the Patriots. There’s something there.
Phil Perry: Subconsciously, he’s trying to tell you it’s more realistic than you think.
