Joe Mazzulla has a message for Celtics fans ahead of playoff push
Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla joined Zolak & Bertrand in studio on Wednesday and had a message for Celtics fans as his team gets set for a playoff push:
“We know where we’re at”
“We’re going after something, that’s extremely important to to us, to the team, to the city, to people. We don’t know if we’re going to get it, but we’re going after it. And you have to be willing to, you know, for lack of a better phrase, sacrifice anything and everything towards that. And that comes with pressure, that comes with expectation. We wouldn’t want it any other way. You can’t run from it like we know where we’re at. But, you know, the way we’re going to do it is doing it together and and embracing whatever comes our way to do it. This is who we are. We gotta execute every day. We gotta work every day. But nothing’s guaranteed. And there’s a lot of variables. And so we just have to go in with the proper mindset. And, I think our guys are the one thing they’ve done is they’ve worked at that mindset every day.
“You have to be willing to go through whatever it is that’s necessary to go through to get to where you want to go. And sometimes you’re in control of dictating that environment. The other team is also trying to win the NBA championship, too. And I think you have to appreciate both sides of that. Would it be ideal and what’s best for our team from a physical, mental, emotional standpoint to fortunate enough to even win the first round or the second round in an easier fashion? But that may not be what’s necessary. That may not be what the environment requires.”
