Is Cooper Flagg the Next Laettner? Jeff Goodman weighs in
This morning on Toucher & Hardy, Jeff Goodman joined to talk about Cooper Flagg, NIL drama, and Jayson Tatum’s recent tension with Steve Kerr. First up was Cooper Flagg, the rising star from Maine now playing at Duke.
Goodman said Flagg’s probably the top pick in the next NBA draft, and he’s already drawing comparisons to Duke’s most infamous players like Christian Laettner. He’s got the skills and a killer mentality that might make him polarizing, especially as a white kid at Duke.

They then got into NIL deals, with Goodman expressing frustration over college athletes now asking for payment just to do interviews. He explained that players see themselves as brands now, which makes them act more like pros—and with that comes more pressure and criticism, something many college players aren’t used to.
They wrapped up with the Tatum-Kerr situation. Goodman thinks Tatum was hurt by not getting key playing time but pointed out that Tatum usually avoids drama. The guys agreed that while Tatum’s probably upset, he’s got bigger chances coming, so he should take it in stride.
