Patriots select IOL Chasen Hines 210th overall in 2022 NFL Draft
With the third of their three sixth-round picks, the Patriots added some serious size up front on offense in LSU guard Chasen Hines. Hines is the second interior offensive lineman taken by the Patriots in this draft, after first-round pick Cole Strange.
Hines measured 6-foot-3, 327 pounds at the Combine earlier this spring. That’s down from the 350 pounds he played at during the fall, as he’s attempted to drop weight to improve his mobility.
Over the last two years, Hines started 16 at right guard, and projects best in that spot in New England. At the same time, Hines has experience at both guard spots as well as center and will give the Patriots’ a versatile depth option up front.
The Patriots had a couple of chances to see Hines during the pre-draft process. He participated in the Senior Bowl, and they had a scout in attendance at the LSU Pro Day.
With Hines in the fold, the Patriots have just one pick remaining. They’re set to be on the lock at 245th overall, with is in the seventh round.
