Isaiah Ford signed to Miami Dolphins practice squad

When Isaiah Ford flew from Miami to Boston after being traded from the Dolphins to the Patriots, little did he know he’d need a round-trip ticket. Just a month after being traded, he’s back in South Beach as a member of the practice squad, per ESPN’s Field Yates.
Ford was New England’s lone trade-deadline acquisition back on November third. The team acquired him for the price of a conditional seventh-round pick. After going through COVID protocols, Ford was able to join the team in mid-November. He was active for one game but did not see the field, and a healthy scratch for two others.
On Saturday, the Patriots waived Ford to make room for players returning from IR. He cleared waivers on Monday, and on Tuesday Miami reclaimed him, signing him to the practice squad.

This came after Bill Belichick sounded encouraged on Monday that Ford’s time in New England wasn’t up.
“We’ll see how it goes going forward,” Belichick responded, when asked about Ford’s release. “Hopefully we can continue to work with him.”
Despite the fact he never played a snap for the Patriots, the team still has to send a seventh-round pick in next April’s draft to the Dolphins. The conditions were attached to playing time, and could only have resulted in the pick becoming a sixth rounder.
Without Ford moving forwards, the Patriots will likely rely more on Donte Moncrief, who was signed to the active roster last week. Moncrief was originally signed to the practice squad around the same time Ford was acquired, and now it appears won the battle for the Patriots final wide receiver spot.
Ford had caught 18 passes for 184 yards for the Dolphins this season before being traded.
