Patriots sign defensive tackle Josiah Bronson
The New England Patriots filled one of their two open roster spots on Sunday, signing defensive tackle Josiah Bronson.
Just prior to their fourth practice of training camp on Sunday, the New England Patriots filled one of their two open roster spots. The team announced the signing of defensive tackle Josiah Bronson on Twitter/X Sunday morning.
Bronson, 27, comes to the Patriots after spending the spring playing for the Memphis Showboats of the UFL. In 10 games for Memphis, the 6-foot-3, 310-pound tackle recorded 12 tackles with two sacks.
Prior to his season with the UFL Bronson spent time with the New Orleans Saints (who signed him as a UDFA out of Washington in 2021), Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins. In total Bronson has played in eight games, with his most recent coming in 2022.
In New England Bronson will compete for a depth defensive tackle role. Davon Godchaux and Christian Barmore are on the top of the depth chart at that position, with Daniel Ekuale, Trysten Hill, Jeremiah Pharms, and Sam Roberts all returning from last year. They also signed Armon Watts in free agency.
With Bronson’s signing, the Patriots have one remaining open roster spot.
