Zolak & Bertrand: Kyrie Irving, it’s not complicated why Celtics fans don’t like you
On Monday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, we dive into why Celtics fans not liking Kyrie Irving isn’t complicated.
You quit on the team…
Marc Bertrand:
All of that from Kyrie Irving over the week. Complete hogwash. I don’t believe him because of this. If you just show up and buy in to the current Celtics roster and you play hard. You don’t have to do any of those other things. I know those things are nice and there are plenty of die-hard Celtics fans that want to believe, like, you know, there’s Celtics fairy dust.
Scott Zolak:
Well, that’s the cult thing he’s talking about. I do agree with him on that.
Marc Bertrand:
They believe that it’s the Celtics, so therefore you should bow down and pray to the banners every day and all that crap. But here’s the truth. You don’t have to, as long as you show up and do your job. If you just show up and do your job and you play hard and you are a good teammate, you really don’t have to worry about connecting with the previous generation of champions or you’re connecting with the community and those things are nice and we like when players do that in any sport, but the truth is you just quit and left. That why they don’t like you. You just quit. You quit on the team. You weren’t a good teammate and then you bailed and you went against something you had stated publicly. It’s really not that complicated. And then? You came back and you tried to make it worse. You tried to antagonize that fan base and cult, as you call it and instead of, you know, as he said, wanted to should have shown more respect to the Celtics when he was here, he openly tried to disrespect the Celtics after playing here with the stomping on Lucky incident. So what is he talking about?
