Zolak & Bertrand: Would Bill Belichick help the 49ers beat the Chiefs?
Zolak & Bertrand, along with Phil Perry wonder if the 49ers could unveil a unique strategy for Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas. Could Kyle Shanahan try to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs offense by employing the expertise of the currently unemployed Bill Belichick as a consultant for this game?
“Bill Belichick: 49ers defensive consultant?”
Perry: You could definitely see that happen. So fly him out. He’s not busy. Fly him out. Would you do it this week? You do it this week. This is where you get the game done. It’s this week.
Beetle: And under the radar. Because Bill doesn’t want to be named anything or want it known that he’s there or helping, right? I would say it would help him if it’s found out. Oh, Bill was in there this week and it’s after the fact. And they’ve won, right? That’s why he wants to be under the radar right now. If he’s there now and he’s talking to Kyle Shanahan, he doesn’t want you knowing about it. If they win the game and look brilliant, he wants Kyle Shanahan giving him a thank you at the podium after.
Perry: You’re being protective of that legacy. You’re making sure Andy Reid doesn’t climb another rung on that ladder in people’s minds, right? You make it really hard on Andy. Make him reconsider whether or not even wants to come back. That that is that that could be in his own way, Bill protecting his legacy. So if he does it, though, now you got to be careful about this, because if you don’t want it getting out, you’re not sitting down in the defensive meetings. This is these are one on one conversations probably with Kyle Shanahan. You might not even fly out. Yeah, could do it on Zoom. “Let’s get the whiteboards out, Kyle. This is what we did to Mahomes to really flummox him in the 2018 AFC Championship Game why wouldn’t you?” I would say you’re doing your team a disservice if you don’t call Bill.
