On Thursday's edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Marc "Beetle" Bertrand said the Krafts will be happy if Bill Belichick lands with the Falcons.

You're either going to look really good... or you're going to look stupid

Marc Bertrand: I think the Patriots should consider themselves lucky that he's going to go to a team like Atlanta.

Scott Zolak: I agree.

Tim McKone: Definitely.

Marc Bertrand: They should be thankful that he's going to Atlanta because if it were Dallas or the Chargers or as crazy as it sounds, Bert Breer and Scott Zolak said six weeks ago that the Jets were in play. Zo had it first. He wants to take that claim. If he went there, you've got good rosters, good teams, and a chance for him to win a lot right away and win more than the Patriots. So I was kind of rooting for that Dallas thing because that would be great fun and it should serve as motivation.

Here's why it's different from Tom Brady. Brady's a player, right? So a player to a coach/executive in Bill Belichick is not going to mean the same to an entire organization in terms of the people running the roster and have the most control over wins and losses. It just doesn't register the same way it does, Bill Belichick with guys like Jerod Mayo and Robert Kraft who are now fully running the operation. Jerod Mayo has to prove that he's better at this stage in the game than Bill Belichick is. Jerod Mayo is taking over for what is considered the best coach this team and this league has maybe ever seen. So he's got a lot to prove that he's better than the guy was a year ago right. I've got to be better than what he was doing.

Scott Zolak: He said that yesterday, we're going to be better.

Marc Bertrand: And the owner has to prove that I made the right call. I made the right call in letting people know they've got a lot on the line. There's risk in firing Bill Belichick and hiring an inexperienced coach in Jerod Mayo. You're either going to look really good and look brilliant, or you're going to look stupid. There's really not a ton of gray area like that's going to happen at some standpoint.

The 2024 pre-draft process kicks off with prospect showcase games across the country over the next two weeks. Of those games, the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama will host the top group of prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.

On Wednesday night, the Senior Bowl announced the list of coaches for this year's game (the coaching staffs for the game are made up of a collection of coaches from around the NFL). That group includes a member of the New England Patriots.

Patriots wide receivers coach Troy Brown will serve as the offensive coordinator for the game, on the 'American Team.' The full list of staffers can be found here.

This is the second year in a row Brown will be heavily involved in one of the prospect games. Last year, Brown served as the head coach when the Patriots coaching staff as a whole worked at the Shrine Bowl.

As for what this means for Brown's future with the Patriots, it's hard to say. Obviously the coaching staff is currently in a state of flux, with Jerod Mayo saying on Wednesday that "everything's under evaluation" when it comes to the coaching staff. That question was in reference to him potentially choosing a new offensive coordinator, and with that there would likely be turnover on the offensive staff.

Whether or not Brown remains in New England will be an interesting storyline to follow in the coming weeks. He's a lifelong Patriot whose time in the organization pre-dates Bill Belichick. Drafted in the eighth round in 1993 he played his entire career in New England before retiring after the 2007 season. He then joined the coaching staff in 2020 as a running backs coach, moving into his current role of wide receivers coach the next year.
