The Celtics may have found a keeper in 2019 second-round draft pick Carsen Edwards.
In Cleveland for the Green’s preseason finale on Tuesday night, it was the 21-year-old Edwards who put on an absolute show in the third quarter, knocking down a Celtics record eight three-pointers in the third quarter alone.

Some numbers of note when it comes to this ridiculous run for Edwards? He dropped his first four three-pointers in a row, and did it in a span of just 88 seconds. In fact, he did almost all of his damage in just five minutes. Edwards also made all but three of his 11 attempts from deep in the quarter, and finished with a ridiculous 26 points in just 8:46 of third-quarter action.
“I think [Edwards] lives on heat check,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said after the victory, which gave Boston a 4-0 record in preseason play. “He should. He’s a good shooter. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like that. Those were deep, hard 3s. How many? Eight in 5:06? I’ve never seen anything like that.”
In other words: There’s heaters, and then there’s what Edwards did.
