What Should Patriots Fans be Rooting This Season?
On Monday’s edition of Toucher & Hardy, Fred Toucher lists out a few key fixtures that Patriots’ fans should be rooting for by the time the season comes to a close.
WATCH HERE!
There’s a lot of Reasons to Watch The Team…
Toucher: Drake Maye could be great. He’s not going to be Patrick Mahomes right now, like Patrick Mahomes was last season. But lets just say Drake Maye is great, and Caleb Williams by the way has not looked good by all reports. But say Drake Maye is unbelievable. Their offense is still going to suck. He’s not going to be capable of doing anything to help it.
Wallach: There’s nothing more important this season then developing this kid. That’s item number 1.
Toucher: Their offense is going to suck regardless. They don’t have any skill position players, and their offensive line stinks. There’s nothing they can do. Let’s face it, it’s not if the offense is going to suck. The offense is going to suck, and the defense will be good. Christian Barmore I feel sorry for him. I don’t feel sorry for the Patriots or the Patriots fans’, you get a better pick.
Wallach: It’s a terrible thing that has happened to him. But at the same time, I didn’t expect this team to win more than five games this season.
Toucher: If you’re a Patriots fan, do you really want them to win more than five games this season? Like when it comes down to it, again it comes down to the development of Drake Maye and the young players. I think there’s a lot of reasons to watch the Patriots this season, I really do.
Hardy: Of course.
Toucher: Jerod Mayo, the way the front office is operating, the development of Christian Gonzalez, and the development of Drake Maye. Really the development of Drake Maye the development of the young receivers. There’s a lot of things to watch and hope for and you’d like the team to get better as the year goes on, right?
Wallach: You develop the young kids, you want to see them stay healthy. But the most important thing is getting an offensive line in front of this kid and having him develop. Now, you can develop him without him playing. That’s also a possibility. I don’t want this kid to get killed. Holley and I had this arguement. Holly seems to think this team is capable of winning 6 or 7 games this year.
Toucher: So what if they win six games? Who cares? I mean, it’s all the same.
Wallach: A high enough pick to draft yourself a franchise left tackle.
Toucher: Whatever. That’s not like a bold statement. Fine, they could win 6 or 7 games. Big deal they go six and 11, or they go seven and ten. Here’s what I would root for if I was a Patriots fan. The team’s not going to make the playoffs. So what I would want is for the team to get progressively better, and then I would even make the argument that since they have their quarterback, that at the end of the season, I would want them winning games. I almost think it’s worth it to win those games because of culture building and young players experiencing that. Especially since you have your quarterback.
