The latest on the Patriots’ most-requested uniform feature
Are the New England Patriots silver pants returning to their uniforms in 2024?
The New England Patriots changed their primary home uniform to an all-blue set in the 2020 season, but in 2022 brought back their previous look of blue jerseys and silver pants for one game. That look proved popular with fans, and it returned for two weeks in 2023.
Since then, fans have been calling for the Patriots silver pants to be worn more regularly – or permanently – moving forward. Over the weekend, ESPN’s Mike Reiss had an update on the biggest Patriots’ uniform question heading into the 2024 season.

“The Patriots have had internal discussions about possibly wearing silver pants (instead of the standard blue) for a game(s), which would give its game-day uniform a different look,” Reiss wrote in his Sunday notebook. “But there is no confirmation at this time when/if it will happen.”
For the past two seasons, the Patriots silver pants games have not been announced ahead of time. Instead, the team revealed the change the day before or day of the game. It sounds like that could be the case again this year too, if the silver pants do return.
Silver pants weren’t the only uniform update from Reiss. He added that the Patriots are expected to wear their red throwback uniforms this upcoming seasons, with an announcement on specific games coming “in the future.”
While this has been a quiet offseason for Patriots uniform news, next season could be different. This will be the fifth season the Patriots have worn their current uniform set, meaning they’d be eligible to make a change (if they want to do so) starting next year.
