After having no All-Pro players last year, two members of the New England Patriots were voted to the 2024 AP All-Pro teams.

The AP All-Pro teams for the 2024 NFL season were announced on Friday. Two Patriots are included on the rosters.

Special teamer Brenden Schooler was named a first-team All-Pro. This continues what’s been a run of recognition for Schooler, who was also voted to the Pro Bowl and was named to the player-voted NFLPA All-Pro team as well.

Schooler, 27, recorded nine special teams tackles this year despite receiving significant attention from opposing teams. He was PFF’s fifth-highest graded special teamer in the league this year.

This is Schooler’s first All-Pro nod, as he continues to emerge among the elite special teams players in the NFL. Back in October the Patriots signed Schooler to a three-year, $9 million contract extension.

Joining Schooler on the 2024 All-Pro roster is cornerback Christian Gonzalez. Gonzalez was named to the second team along with Trent McDuffie of the Kansas City Chiefs, while Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos and Derek Stingley Jr. of the Houston Texans received first-team honors.

Gonzalez gets the honor after being viewed as one of the bigger snubs from the Pro Bowl. This year he allowed 46 catches on 84 targets, with seven pass breakups and two interceptions to just two touchdowns allowed. Opposing quarterbacks had a 70.5 passer rating when targeting Gonzalez.

For Gonzalez, this is his first ever All-Pro nod, which comes in his first full season. He was limited to just four games last year as a rookie due to a shoulder injury.

Schooler and Gonzalez represent a return to the AP All-Pro rosters for the Patriots, after they had no players last year. Their last All-Pro was Marcus Jones, as the first-team punt returner in 2022. Gonzalez is the Patriots’ first non-special teams All-Pro since cornerback J.C. Jackson was named to the second team in 2021.
