Patriots announce details for statue honoring Tom Brady
A Tom Brady statue is coming to Gillette Stadium as one of the many ways the New England Patriots will honor their former quarterback.
The New England Patriots pulled out all the stops on Wednesday night to honor their former quarterback – Tom Brady. A three-hour event at Gillette Stadium in his honor culminated with owner Robert Kraft officially retiring Brady’s No. 12 and formally inducting him into the team Hall of Fame.
However, the tributes won’t stop there. Kraft also revealed a way the team will honor Brady in the future – a statue.
Kraft told Brady and the full house at Gillette Stadium that the organization has commissioned a Tom Brady statue that will “perpetuate the legendary legacy of this once in a lifetime player.” It will stand 12 feet tall and be made of bronze, and be placed in the plaza outside the front gates to Gillette Stadium.
That announcement sets the stage for a future date honoring Brady back in Foxborough. Kraft said the Tom Brady statue will be unveiled at some point during the 2024 season, but didn’t give an exact date.
As Kraft pointed out, previously the highest honor within the Patriots organization was induction into the team Hall of Fame. This statue will (for now) set Brady apart from the rest as a unique honor for the quarterback that led the franchise to six Super Bowl titles.
