Is it time for a new goaltending strategy for Boston Bruins? Fred Toucher weighs in
During this morning’s Toucher & Hardy radio program, Fred and Rob “Hardy” Poole discussed the Boston Bruins’ loss in game 2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, with a focus on goaltending decisions and overall team performance. They debated whether starting Ullmark over Swayman was the right call, considering the potential for criticism if Swayman performs well in upcoming games. They also touched on the challenges facing Coach Montgomery and the pressure on the Bruins to progress further in the playoffs. Wallach chimed in with insights about the team’s defensive play, pointing out the need for improved puck control and physicality to compete effectively.

TRANSCRIPT:
Rob “Hardy” Poole: A lot of this will come back to the goalie situation, fairly or unfairly. This is the bet they’ve made, and it’s been in play for a while now. If you’re a Bruins fan, you have to accept this is what they’re doing. It’s probably Swayman again tomorrow night, and we’ll see how it goes. After a few games, anything can change with the rotation.
Fred Toucher: I’ve mentioned this before, it’s an unfair situation for Montgomery. There’s no good outcome if they lose. It’s just unfortunate. They won’t fire him after the first round, but he’s on notice. Look at Julian and the tough playoff losses before they won the Cup. Montgomery’s a good coach, but it’s tough for him and the fans.
