Chris Russo: Belichick thought he could win without QB
Chris “Mad Dog” Russo stopped by Felger & Mazz at Radio Row on Thursday and gave his thoughts on how Bill Belichick could’ve thought he could win without a great QB, and that it’s just not the case. When asked about Bill Belichick not having a head coaching job entering the season, Russo explains how he’s surprised but believes that Belichick will coach again in the future.
You’ve got to have the quarterback…
Chris ” Mad Dog” Russo: You got to have the quarterback, and I think we maybe took it for granted when Brady left. That he would figure it out without the quarterback. And now we’ve learned that can’t be the case.
Felger: I don’t think he…
Chris ” Mad Dog” Russo: I think he thought he could too.
Felger: He believed it in himself. That he could do it without the quarterback.
Chris ” Mad Dog” Russo: I think so too. You’re not that great. He’s so great that he probably thought he could, I’ll show you, “it can be anybody and I’ll figure it out.” And, you know, Cam Newton. Whoever he decided to use – it didn’t work. Yeah. I’m a little surprised he didn’t get a job. I think he will coach again. I don’t think Pete Carroll will, but I think he will coach again and so will Vrabel. I think he will coach again, and next year you got a chance for some good coaching. Who knows on the Eagles. Who knows on Dallas, although I don’t know if (Jerry) Jones will go there because he wants to be the poster boy for the team. Who knows with Daboll. I mean I think there’s a chance, I think he’ll coach next year, but I’m surprised.
