Felger & Mazz: The Baltimore Ravens are a stupid team
The Baltimore Ravens fell to the Kansas City Chiefs at home in the AFC Championship game on Sunday. Part of the Ravens downfall was their amount of stupid penalties. On Monday’s Felger and Mazz, the guys gave their thoughts on the play of the Ravens.
Are the Baltimore Ravens a stupid team?
Felger: That whole team got ahead of itself. Played out of its mind, meaning out of its mind in a bad way, and there’s something about that Ravens “come into our house, we’ll knock your head off”, just like that Raven thing takes it a little too far. And I don’t know if Lamar Jackson gets caught up in it or not, but that whole outfit, I mean, jeez Louise some of those penalties. The Kyle Van Noy the head bump on Kelce, that one they could have let go. But the other ones, the dude clotheslines Patrick Mahomes.
Mazz: It was as bad as I’ve seen.
Felger: What do you think they’re going to do there, dude? You freaking clotheslined him.
Jim Murray: It was a fist to the face.
Felger: The taunting one they could have let go, I suppose. Clowney headbutts Patrick Mahomes in the head. Like, what do you think they’re going to do there dude? When you headbutt the guy in the pocket they’re going to throw that flag. I particularly liked on the final drive the Ravens need a three and out to stop the clock and get the ball back and they have too many men on the field on first down. Then they decide, okay, well the best way to manage the clock here is to take an intentional offsides. So they have their guy go offsides and throttle the guard, which wasn’t five yards, it was 15 for unnecessary roughness. You see that one?

Felger: And do I need to tell you again, how many times do I have to tell these guys, I talk and I talk and I talk and no one listens…why does no one listen to me? How come these players don’t listen to me when I tell them to take care of the football by the goal line? Do you think I’m speaking French here? Do you think I’m speaking from a place where I don’t know what I’m talking about? How come no one listens to me?
Mazz: Because they think you’re an idiot.
Felger: When you’re down by the goal line…take care of the football, unless it’s fourth down or there’s no time on the clock and you have to extend the ball. If you have to extend the ball because the game’s going to end or the the possession is going to end, then that’s one thing. But more often than not, you’re not in that situation. More often than not, like Zay flowers yesterday, you would have had first and goal inside the one yard line. But no! You have to be the hero and you have to get greedy and stupid and extend the football. And you deserve what you get in that situation.
Jim Murray: That just felt so unnecessary for him to do that at that time. You would have had the first down, just get down. And then after he turns it over, he goes to the bench, punches the bench and lacerates his hand.
Mazz: I mean, that guy played a stupid game yesterday. And again Mike, I do hold the taunting against him. And I hear you about like the whole ideathat you could let it go, it was egregious. As soon as he did it I went, “what are you doing? You’re going to get a flag.” And he got it. I mean, it was so obvious. That’s just stupid. They’re a stupid team. Stupid. You just rattled off 4 or 5 of them off the top of your head. That is stupid losing football.
