Has Robert Kraft discussed moving on from Bill Belichick? Albert Breer sets record straight
Has Robert Kraft discussed moving on from Bill Belichick? Albert Breer tells Toucher & Rich his recent comments from the Colin Cowherd show about the Patriots‘ future after Bill Belichick were taken out of context.
WATCH HERE:
It was originally reported by other outlets that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has been discussing the future of the franchise post-Bill Belichick, even before the 2023 season began, and that the team’s poor performance, with five losses in their first six games, has sparked questions and speculation about Belichick’s immediate future.
During this morning’s Toucher & Rich radio program, Breer clarifies what was said on Colin Cowherd. He had acknowledged the existence of internal discussions within the organization regarding the future of the franchise, particularly post-Belichick. He pointed out that these conversations had occurred at various levels, even citing the case of Jerod Mayo. Breer also mentioned that Robert Kraft had been exposed to criticism both locally and nationally, suggesting that Kraft might have been aware of the comments made on their station.
He clarified that the reports misrepresent his words by suggesting that Robert Kraft was discussing firing Bill Belichick when, in reality, the conversations were about exit strategies and the post-Belichick era. He expressed frustration at how such reports focus on generating retweets rather than accurately presenting their content and acknowledged that he appreciates content promotion as long as it’s done accurately.
“This is based on what I said on Colin Cowherd’s show the other day. He asked if I believed there had been internal conversations about the future of the franchise, including where they’re headed post-Belichick. I responded affirmatively, stating that they indeed had those discussions. For instance, there was a conversation with Jerod Mayo last year when they made an offer to retain him and prevent him from interviewing with the Panthers. Additionally, I’ve heard that Robert Kraft has been exposed to a lot of criticism, both locally and nationally. I speculate he may be a fan of our station, as it seems he’s heard what everyone is saying.
Yes, there have been internal conversations about the future, and these discussions have taken place at various levels within the organization. However, when these discussions are misinterpreted as ‘Robert Kraft discussing firing Bill Belichick,’ it doesn’t accurately reflect what I said. They’ve deliberated on exit strategies and what the post-Belichick era will look like. Much of this hinges on the phrasing used, but it appears that their primary concern is getting more retweets, with figures reaching 4000, 5000, or even 6000.
They’ve essentially turned it into a cottage industry, capitalizing on our content. I genuinely appreciate it when people promote our content, and I won’t be one of those who say they shouldn’t use what I said. However, I do request that they aggregate it accurately and get it right.”
