Plans For a Huge Movie Studio To Be Built In Massachusetts
Lights, camera, Boston. RISE, a development and construction firm based in the city has plans for a movie studio to be built in Massachusetts. RISE announced that a deal has been made to acquire the rights to a Braintree property.
Banner Park campus is the site of development. The property consists of over 123 acres. Specifically, Banner Park is off Columbian Street. In addition, it’s close to South Weymouth and the Derby St. shops in Hingham. Currently, it is the come to discover and innovation centers.
The future vision includes creating a production studio for film and TV. “The company estimates that the proposed studio would create over 800 jobs, $8 million in tax revenue, and $1.5 million in permit fees for Braintree over the next decade,” WCVB Boston explains.
NBC Boston explained, “The property is already fully permitted, Rise said, and it plans to develop 272,500 square feet of office and industrial space for sound stages as well as pre- and post-production facilities.” Design mock-ups of the studio can be found in NBC Boston‘s story as well.
Braintree Film History
It’s a short distance from downtown Boston and Logan Airport to Braintree. In fact, the town already has a history of TV filming and movie production.
Most recently, a new movie entitled Boston Strangler shot scenes in Braintree. It will star Keira Knightley and tells the story of a serial killer in the 1960’s.
“Boston Strangler is the third high-profile film in recent months to film in Braintree. Ben Affleck’s The Tender Bar shot last spring and can be streamed on Amazon Prime. The Christmas movie-musical Spirited, which filmed scenes at the South Shore Plaza and stars Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell, will premiere on Apple TV+,” The Patriot Ledger reported in early 2022.
Furthermore, Matt Damon and Casey Affleck were spotted numerous times this spring, shooting scenes in the North End of Boston. However, now with plans for a huge movie studio to be built in Braintree, Massachusetts, perhaps next time be working on the south shore.
Big Bounce America Is Coming To Massachusetts And It Looks Amazing

They include the 16,000 sq. ft. “World’s Largest Bounce House,” which is 32 feet tall, and the newly added “Sport Slam” featuring a customized sports arena. In addition, there’s an incredible 900+ ft. long obstacle course named “The Giant” and a unique, space-themed wonderland called “airSPACE.”

There are no fees for spectators to enter the event grounds. Only those planning on bouncing on any of the inflatables require a ticket, according to their FAQ. Parents accompanying a child should purchase their ticket to the same session/time slot their kid attends. Furthermore, “Access All Area” tickets are a three-hour pass that includes a timed slot for The World’s Biggest Bounce House, PLUS unlimited access to The Giant, Sport Slam & airSPACE.
