UPDATE: Rex Burkhead confirmed that he’s done for the season in a tweet on Tuesday.
Patriots running back Rex Burkhead had to leave the game against the Houston Texans in the third quarter with a knee injury.
Burkhead got the pitch to him on third-and-1 but got tripped up for a loss of yardage, and appeared to take a direct helmet shot to his knee on the way to the turf. (WARNING: potentially distressing video content below).

Burkhead briefly went to the blue medical tent before being carted off the field. The Patriots quickly ruled him out for the rest of the game.
The Patriots lost 27-20 to the Texans, falling to 4-6 on the season.
