Patriots add tight end Alex Ellis (Report)

The Patriots have signed 27-year-old tight end Alex Ellis, The Patriots are also signing veteran TE Alex Ellis, per league source.

A 2016 UDFA out of Tennessee, Ellis has spent four NFL seasons with five teams. He’s seen game action with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2016), Kansas City Chiefs (2018), and Philadelphia Eagles (2019), who released him last month.

That experience will be a valuable asset to the Patriots, who only have one other tight end with NFL game action on their roster (Ryan Izzo). Ellis has three NFL receptions to his name, all coming with the Jaguars in 2016.
Ellis isn’t the only tight end the Patriots added Monday, the team also reportedly signed former Raider Paul Butler. Ellis and Butler were two of four players to work out for the team on Sunday.
