Red Sox activate Steve Pearce from Injured List, will make season debut Thursday

World Series MVP Steve Pearce has joined the Red Sox after missing the first week of the season with a left calf strain.
Prior to Thursday’s series finale in Oakland, the team activated Pearce from the 10-day injured list. To make room, they sent first baseman Sam Travis to Pawtucket.

Pearce injured his calf on March 17 in spring training. He had been rehabbing the injury in Fort Myers since.
Pearce will make his 2019 debut on Thursday, starting at first base and hitting third against Oakland lefty Brett Anderson.
