Boston announced Thursday that they're trading Short to the team they just finished playing, the Atlanta Braves, in exchange for cash considerations. The Red Sox previously acquired Short from the New York Mets for cash on May 1.
Short played two games for the Red Sox, on May 2 against the San Francisco Giants and May 5 at the Minnesota Twins. He went 0-for-7 at the plate, with four strikeouts. Defensively, he played second base and third base, making one putout and five assists without committing an error.

Second baseman Vaughn Grissom made his Red Sox debut on May 3 in Minnesota, and started both games of the brief two-game set in Atlanta. That ostensibly made Short expendable.
The Red Sox shift back to Boston to start a three-game set against the Washington Nationals, beginning on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
