Patriots set schedule for offseason workouts, OTAs, and Minicamps
Although we’re just one week into free agency and the new league year, the New England Patriots will be back on the field relatively soon. On Monday the team announced its offseason workout and spring practice schedule, which begins in just under a month – with a new twist.
Each year after the draft, NFL teams hold ‘rookie minicamp’ to get their draft picks and UDFAs caught up and prepared for OTAs (organized team activities). That rookie minicamp is usually held a week or two after the draft, and a week or two before the first OTA practice.

This year, Patriots’ rookie minicamp will take place on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. In the past Patriots rookie minicamp had been fully closed to the media, but this year media will be in attendance for the Saturday session.
OTAs are scheduled to start a week later. There will be 10 practices between Monday, May 20 and Friday, June 7. Of those 10, four are open to the media. That includes the first practice and last practices, as well as Wednesday, May 29 and Monday, June 3. The closed practices will be held on May 21, 23, 30, and 31 and June 4 and 6. OTA practices are not mandatory for players to attend.

The following week the Patriots will be back on the field for Mandatory Minicamp, which all players on the roster have to take part in unless given an excused absence by the team. Minicamp runs for three days, from June 11 to June 13. All three of those sessions will be open to the media. All spring practices, OTAs and minicamp, are generally closed to the public.
In addition to the spring practice schedule, the Patriots also announced upcoming media availability and press conferences, Most notably, head coach Jerod Mayo will speak to the media next Monday at 7:45 a.m. ET at the NFL Owners Meetings, and de facto GM Eliot Wolf will hold his pre-draft press conference on Thursday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. ET.

To kick off Mock Draft Mondays this week, we’ve got the return of the Mock Draft Mailbag! For those who missed its debut last year, this is like the Patriots Mailbag we do during the regular season but instead of sending questions, people submit mock drafts for me to react to. I see you guys replying to my tweets with mock drafts all year an unfortunately can’t respond to them all, so this is my attempt to get to as many as I can.
As we go through, there may be picks or trades that overlap from mock to mock. I’ll comment on a player, pick, trade, etc. the first time it comes up, but know that comment carries over to other mocks that present the same situation even if I don’t highlight it again. The goal is to try to highlight as many players and scenarios as possible, using part of as many possible mock drafts as you guys sent in.
If you missed submitting a mock this week, don’t worry! There will be at least two more Mock Draft Mailbags later this spring. For now though, let’s get started with 2024 Mock Draft Mailbag 1.0!
Note: The way these tweets are displayed, some of the mocks are cropped. You’ll have to open them in Twitter to see the full draft.
