Toucher & Hardy: What you should know about comedian Dave Hill
Sometimes you hear someone on the radio and have no idea who it is. I’m not talking about tuning in during the overnight hours when someone from somewhere other than Boston is talking about non Boston things – I’m talking about guests that pop up on shows and you think, “I have no idea who they’re talking to.”
I realize that may have been the case this morning with our guest Dave Hill, which is a shame. I think everyone should know everything about Dave Hill, including myself. So, in my typical unprofessional manner, I researched our guest long after the interview was over.
HE’S AN AUTHOR: Dave was on the show to promote his new book, “The Awesome Game: One Man’s Incredible, Globe-Crushing Hockey Odyssey.” By what I’m guessing is the author’s own description on Amazon, the book is, “humorous but heartfelt, Bill Bryson-like but hipper…arguably the greatest book ever written about hockey.” Sounds good to me.
HE’S A COMEDIAN:
Hard to describe his style, but viewing some of his Instagram posts will give you a good idea:
HE’S A MUSICIAN:
Dave was in the band Sons of Elvis, and has played or recorded with Chris Reifert, Chuck Mosely from Faith No More, Lucy Wainwright Roche and he’ll be opening for Tenacious D in Europe this spring. If anyone can convince my family that I need to go to Scotland in May to see that show, I’ll owe you one.
And of course, you can listen to his appearance on the show this morning right here:
So there he is. Dave Hill. Super nice guy to talk to, and he mentioned next time he’d like to be in studio. Hopefully he’ll bring a BMX bike with him to do some sweet bunny hops during the show.
