The latest injury news on Rhamondre Stevenson is not good.
According to Adam Schefter, further testing revealed that the New England Patriots running back suffered a high-ankle sprain during the team’s Week 13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. He’s expected to miss “a few weeks.”
Considering that the Pats are 2-10 and the injury will keep Stevenson out through at least Week 16, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s shelved for the rest of the season. Stevenson carried the ball for the Patriots’ first nine running plays in a row against the Chargers, before injuring his ankle on a play in which he fumbled, then exiting the game.
Frankly, this news is more important for Stevenson’s fantasy owners than the Patriots themselves. Stevenson’s absence elevates Ezekiel Elliott to the leading role in the Patriots backfield, while Ty Montgomery will likely mix in for snaps here and there. The Patriots also recently claimed JaMycal Hasty off waivers.

Quarterback change fails to provide a spark: 9 takeaways from the Patriots' loss to the Chargers
For a 2-9 team, there was a lot of anticipation for the New England Patriots’ Week 13 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The team made a long-awaited quarterback switch, with Bailey Zappe making his first start of the year in place of Mac Jones.
Despite the change, the results looked similar. While the Patriots had just one turnover – a Rhamondre Stevenson fumble on a play during which he got hurt – for the first time in four weeks, the offense failed to capitalize. They ended up with 257 total yards, which was down from last week and 40 yards below their season average for yards in a game, and were shut out for the second time in 2023.

Still, with a new quarterback there’s plenty to discuss from this game. Let’s get to this week’s takeaways…
