Theo’s not coming back…
Felger: Mazz, what do you think?
Mazz: If you hear anything about Theo Epstein coming back to the Red Sox, dismiss it. Dismiss it. Not going to happen. Theo’s not coming back, okay? I just don’t see it. I mean, to me, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. And I think Sam Kennedy was being on the level today at Fenway Park. I don’t think he would have come out and said it as definitively as he did if they were doing something behind the scenes. I don’t think so.
Felger: Too bad.
Mazz: I agree.
Felger: I don’t think there’s anyone else that moves the needle. There’s not. I don’t care how good the nerd is, I don’t care what he’s done, again David Stearns was the hot name and he’s very good in Milwaukee and all that and blah, blah, blah. He would not have moved the needle one bit. Most people would have said another midmarket nerd to run like another mid-market operation? Forget that. So Theo was the only guy that moves the needle. Unless there’s someone else.
Jim Murray: That’s the only one that would be here that would make people go bananas.
Felger: Andrew Friedman, the guy with the Dodgers. Okay. Is there anyone else?
Jim Murray: Alex Anthopoulos. I mean that’s a name people know.
Mazz: I mean he’s pretty good.
Felger: Would he move the needle?
Mazz: No, no, no. Not from people here. No.
