Tony Massarotti, co-host of Felger and Massarotti on 98.5 The Sports Hub announced during Monday’s program that NESN didn’t ask him back as an analyst on the sports station’s Red Sox broadcasts for the upcoming 2023 season.

Massarotti was part of a group of rotating analysts on the broadcasts last year which include Kevin Millar, Kevin Youkilis and Dennis Eckersley, who announced his retirement from the booth after the 2022 season.

Fred, Rich and Wallach share their thoughts on the decision by NESN towards the end of today’s show.

“You need a guy who’s going to call and call out what he sees.” says Jon Wallach, “The Red Sox are not going to be good again next year.”.

“Based on what we know about the way the team is being constructed, this team is going to finish in last place again. You need a guy that people are going to tune in and watch. You don’t need a guy, like Youkilis or like Will Middlebrooks, who are perfectly nice people but are boring as hell if your team is 15 games below 500 and you’re in early August”.

“I agree completely.” said Fred Toucher, “It’s an entertainment product. The Mazz thing was thinking outside the box and thought it was good.”
