Patriots core special teamer Brandon King carted off with serious-looking leg injury in preseason win over Panthers

Patriots special teamer Brandon King appeared to suffer a serious leg injury on Thursday night against the Panthers. He had to be carted off the field and did not return to the game, which the Patriots won 10-3.
King left the field surrounded by numerous teammates, and even former teammate Chris Hogan, who is now with the Panthers.

King, 25, has been a core special teams player for the Patriots since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2015. His 281 special teams snaps in 2018 were the third-most on the team behind only Nate Ebner (329) and Matthew Slater (303). If he suffered a season-ending injury, it would be a massive loss for that phase of the game.
A logical choice to replace King on the 53-man roster would be linebacker Calvin Munson, who has had a strong preseason and contributed on defense as well as special teams.
