Felger: Jayson Tatum shot the Celtics out of the game in loss to Cavaliers
The Boston Celtics blew a big 4th quarter lead in their 105-104 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night in Cleveland. On Wednesday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger said that Joe Mazzulla and Jayson Tatum are the reason the Celtics 11-game win streak came to and end at the hands of the Cavaliers.
Did Jayson Tatum shoot the Celtics out of the game?
Felger: That was a bad one for the Celtics last night. And I’ll tell you what, to me, the story was Jayson Tatum and Joe Mazzulla in that order. Tatum and Mazzulla cost them that game. And certainly one game doesn’t matter in the regular season, it doesn’t matter for seeding, it doesn’t matter for home court. You’ve got the East all wrapped up. It’s not about the loss in and of itself, it’s about how you feel about the team going forward. And I start with Tatum and Mazzulla and that’s what cost them the game.
Felger: Tatum shot them out of the game. I went back and watched the whole fourth quarter, because I missed it in real time. I watched the fourth quarter this morning, he was missing from all over the place. Missing in the lane, missing at the rim, missing from three. Jayson Tatum in the fourth quarter: 12 minutes, he played every second, 1-9 from the floor, 0-2 from behind the three. It wasn’t just chucking threes, although he did some of that. -17, two points. And they kept going to him over and over and over again. And Jayson Tatum shot you right out of that game.
